Curriculum Vitae

 

Education.

 

1965-7 Foundation Course, Sutton School of Art.

 

1967-9 Harrow Studio Pottery Course under Michael Casson and Victor Margrie.

 

1969 Moved to Oxshott, Surrey - used a studio in the garden of Rosemary and Denise Wren and made traditional slipware and hand built works in porcelain

 

1978 Moved to North Wales with husband Terry to set up a pottery in Llandudno Junction

 

AWARDS

1969 3rd prize in the Ceramic Sculpture Competition organised by the Craftsmen Potters Association.

1995 Arts Council of Wales Special Award for research into rock structures and developing new work.

1999 prize winner £500 National Eisteddfod Ynys Mon.

2007 Arts council of Wales special project grant for a new studio to facilitate the making of new work for "Ceramic Art London", at the R.C.A.

1987 Ceramic Series - Aberystwyth Arts Centre.

WORKSHOPS / RESIDENCIES

 

1990 Residency, Canolfan yr Orsedd, Llandudno - Adult Training Centre, supported by Arts Disabilities Wales.

Arts for All Festival Bangor - multi media sculpture for people with learning difficulties 1991 'Ways of Seeing' Conference run by the RNIB at Aberystwyth Arts Centre - ways of making pots for people who are visually impaired.

1993 BP Re-vision - workshops for people with visual impairment integrated with other special needs adults. Students and sixth form students took part to make large scale tactile sculptures to explore by touch.

1994 Summer play scheme, Rhyl Library Arts Centre - creating an environment in the gallery reflecting ghosts of Rhyl, animation, shadow puppets, monsters, spiders, bats and all things that scare you in the dark.

1995 Artist in residence, Ysgol y Foryd, Towyn, Rhyl - seaside extravaganza ceramic mural project by all ages from 4-7, supported by Foundation for Sport and the Arts.

1996 Artist in residence, Ysgol Tudno, Llandudno.

1996 Festival by MENCAP and Gateway Clubs, Silver Jubilee, Cardiff - making sculptures with adults with severe learning difficulties.

1997 Artist in residence, Ysgol Bodnant, Prestatyn - ceramic mural of the school and children. Supported by the Arts Council of Wales.

1998 Artist in residence, Ysgol Melyd, Meliden, Denbighshire - ceramic mural based on the village as a lead mining community.

Artist in residence, Ysgol Santes Helen - ceramic mural  bass on The Dream of Macsen Wledig from the Mabinogion.

2 day workshop, Connahs Quay High School - making ethnic wall plaques 1 day workshop, Aberconwy School, with GCSE pupils.

1999 Artist in residence, Ysgol Bodnant, Prestatyn: Millennium 2000 project - ceramic mural made by 240 children aged between 3 and 7 years old.

'Touching Experience' - 3 day workshops in different counties in Wales for National Touch Reading Day run by the RNIB for people who are visually impaired.

2001 Ysgol Bodnant, Prestatyn. Curriculum planters - boxes for plants with all the school subjects on the side or related objects. Age 5 - 7 yrs .

2002 Bodnant Infants Prestatyn, Obelisk made in the school play ground to celebrate the birthday of the school’s centenary - made by all the children.

2002 Ysgol Deganwy - ceramic mural built in the school based on Maegwn Gwynedd.Made by all the children - 250 infants and primary.

2003 Ysgol Llanaelhaearn - ceramic mural based on the hill fort on the mountain above the school, the celts and druids TRECERI.

2003 Whitford Church School, Denbighshire - ceramic mural based on local history and lord Mostyn.200 children took part infants and primary.

2005 Community Hall Vestry, Capel Babell.Llanaelhaearn.

Various workshops done every year in Conwy with the Conwy Feast ,and also Conwy river festival .
